One of the instructions that National Council has always given me very clearly is ‘we take animal welfare seriously and we want to have a constructive relationship with the animal welfare people’. Several of our State Presidents and National Councillors take the time to meet regularly with animal welfare organisations and discuss how we can all do better.
It seems to be working. Take a look at this newspaper clip, and see what one of the more active animal welfare groups, Animals Angels, has been saying in public. There’re good messages in here about the help that transporters need to be given by customers and saleyards in order to get the job done right!
