PACCAR committed to safety

The safety of customers and other road users is of paramount importance to PACCAR, and earlier this year, Kenworth and DAF took part in events that demonstrated the company’s commitment to the cause; the VTA’s Safety and Productivity Day at Sandown racecourse, and a Stability & Safety Drive Day, held at Mount Cotton in conjunction with Knorr-Bremse.

A number of safety initiatives were on display, but by far the most dramatic were the demonstrations of Kenworth’s Electronic Brake Safety Systems (EBSS). This footage was captured on video and can be viewed here.

The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) module utilises on board sensors to constantly evaluate the stability of the vehicle and interacts with the ABS system to provide driver assistance to restore stability by intelligent application of braking, or depowering the engine to reduce speed.

PACCAR’s ongoing investment in safety and particularly EBSS was recently recognised by the PowerTorque Magazine Technology and Innovation Award for 2011.
