PACCAR Australia crowned Victorian Employer of the Year

PACCAR Australia – manufacturer of Australia’s number one heavy-duty truck brand, Kenworth – has been named Employer of the Year at the Victorian Government’s 2012 Training Awards.

Rizzo photoMr Joe Rizzo, Managing Director of PACCAR Australia, was pleased to accept the Employer of the Year award from The Hon Peter Hall MLC, Victorian Minister for Education and Skills.

The award was presented at a gala ceremony in Melbourne on 24 August.

 

This award highlights exceptional achievements in vocational education and training and demonstrates PACCAR Australia’s outstanding commitment to skills and career development in meeting business needs and providing growth opportunities for employees. It also acknowledges the extensive training provided to the PACCAR dealer network Australia-wide.

The Victorian Minister for Higher Education and Skills, The Hon Peter Hall, MLC, presented the award to PACCAR Australia’s Managing Director, Joe Rizzo, congratulating the company on its innovative approach to employee education and skills training. Mr Rizzo said he was delighted PACCAR had won the award for the second time in five years.

“It is a great honour to be recognised as the best employer in the state – and it’s doubly so for us,” Mr Rizzo said. “This is testament to our long-term commitment to maintain a highly-skilled workforce, so that we can continue to produce world-class products and services.”

Kenworth’s Bayswater manufacturing operation remains the backbone of PACCAR Australia. It has designed and manufactured uniquely Australian trucks for 41 years. More than 45,000 Kenworth vehicles have been delivered to Australian customers as well as exported to New Zealand, Thailand, Japan and Papua New Guinea.

Mr Rizzo said “continued investment in training played an integral role in PACCAR’s ongoing success”.
