ALRTA Congratulates Frasers on Safety Win

Congratulations to ALRTA and LRTAQ member Frasers Livestock Transport on winning two different categories of the Queensland Safe Work Awards.  Frasers was recognised for taking a proactive and innovative approach to the risks associated with cross-loading cattle from one trailer to another by designing and building a totally new apparatus which makes the job safer, easier and quicker.

The equipment was designed in-house and in consultation with drivers.  It removes the need for drivers to work within, climb or stand on the crate, drastically decreasing the risk of falls, trips and contact with livestock.  It also includes safety rails around ladders and gantries as well as lights to aid night work.  A diverse panel of government, industry, business, unions representatives judged the equipment to be the ‘best solution to an identified work health and safety issue’ and also the ‘best individual contribution to work health and safety’.  Well done and well deserved!

The video below, from the Queensland Safe Works Awards, shows an interview with Fraser Livestock Transport Managing Director, Ross Fraser. Ross discusses the story behind their innovation.
