How will the Bill go in Parliament?

While we’ve worked hard to make sure this Bill contains as many constructive, responsible provisions as we could, what happens next will obviously be up to the Federal Parliament.

The Government intends to move the Bill through Parliament with some urgency: the Bill is intended to come into effect on 1 July this year (That’s assuming, of course, that other issues don’t bring them completely unstuck!).

The Opposition has announced that they will decide their position on the Bill after they’ve received the report from the House of Representatives committee at the end of this month.

And that means a lot of people will be keenly interested in the opinion of one particular members of this key House of Representatives committee: Mr Paul Neville MP, the National Party member for the federal seat of Hinkler, a Queensland seat which is based around Bundaberg and Hervey Bay.
