Frasers Wins Top Safety Award

Fraser Transport Wins Safety Award

The ALRTA congratulates Frasers Livestock Transport on winning the award for ‘the best solution to an identified workplace health and safety issue’ at the 9th Annual Safe Work Australia Awards.

The award follows on from earlier success in two categories of the Queensland Safe Work Awards in 2013 and was presented to Ross Fraser OAM by the Federal Employment Minister Eric Abetz at a special ceremony held at Old Parliament House in Canberra on 28 April 2014.

Frasers was recognised for taking a proactive and innovative approach to the risks associated with cross-loading cattle from one trailer to another by designing and building a totally new apparatus which makes the job safer, easier and quicker.

The equipment was designed in-house and in consultation with drivers. It removes the need for drivers to work within, climb or stand on the crate, drastically decreasing the risk of falls, trips and contact with livestock. It also includes safety rails around ladders and gantries as well as lights to aid night work.
