ALRTA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ACCEPTS NEW ROLE AS ATA CEO

ALRTA congratulates our Executive Director Mat Munro on the news he has been appointed CEO of the Australian Trucking Association (ATA).  Mr Munro has served 10 years as ALRTA Executive Director.

ALRTA National President Scott McDonald said that Mr Munro had many successes while at the helm of ALRTA.

“Mat joined ALRTA in May 2013 at a crucial point in our association’s evolution. He was our first direct employee and immediately set about revamping our operations. We now have a modern association with excellent governance, staff, offices, member equity and standing with governments and other stakeholders,” said President McDonald.

“Some of Mat’s policy achievements include improved work and rest flexibility for livestock carriers, new rules allowing personal use of a heavy vehicle, a 160km radius work diary exemption, enabling customers to access pre-approved Class 3 permits, a national ramp standard, a registered code of practice for effluent management and construction of several free effluent disposal facilities. These and other achievements are a lasting legacy for our industry and association.”

“However, all good things must come to an end, and so on behalf of ALRTA and our state member associations, I thank Mat for his great service to our industry and wish him every success in his new role with ATA. It is a position where his professional skills and his understanding of rural trucking can be put to good use. Our attention now turns to recruiting a suitable person to build on Mat’s success,” he said.

Mr Munro will leave ALRTA on 18 June and commence with ATA on 3 July 2023.
