HEART OF AUSTRALIA – BRINGING SPECIALIST MEDICAL CLINICS TO RURAL COMMUNITIES

Heart of Australia delivers fortnightly specialist medical investigation and treatment clinics to regional, rural and remote area communities across Queensland, via a customized clinic driven by a Kenworth K200 prime mover.

It’s a program that embodies an innovative approach to front-line specialist medical care, providing access to vital services when and where they are needed most. In just 6 months, the clinic saw over 1,200 patients. Fifty of those patients had life-threatening cardiac conditions and have now been successfully treated.

The mobile specialist medical clinic has travelled more than 72,000km in its first year on the road, covering an area of more than 450,000 km2.

Heart of Australia has received generous support from companies like Paccar and Brown and Hurley. Let’s hope this fantastic program is rolled out across the rest of rural Australia.
