The Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association (ALRTA) proudly announces the appointment of its new Executive Committee following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 18 October 2024 at the Paranaple Centre in Devonport, Tasmania.
Incoming Executive Members:
President: Gerard Johnson (LRTAQ), President of the Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Queensland and owner of Gerard Johnson Transport.
Vice President: Wade Lewis (LBRCA).
Vice President: David Fyfe (LRTAWA).
Treasurer: Anthony Boyle (LRTAV).
Secretary: Tamara McArdle (LRTASA).
ATA Representative: Athol Carter (LRTAQ)
Immediate Past President: Scott McDonald.
Executive Director: Rachel Smith.
Outgoing President Scott McDonald was praised for his exceptional five years of service, during which he significantly influenced both ALRTA and the broader rural transport industry.
ALRTA Executive Director Rachel Smith expressed her gratitude to the departing Executive Committee members Frank Tedesco, Alan McKenzie, Lyndon Jay and Kevin Keenan, commending their support throughout her first year in the role and their commitment to ALRTA and industry. She added:
“A special thank you to Scott McDonald for his sensible, pragmatic leadership and long-standing commitment to both ALRTA and the rural transport industry.”
ALRTA continues to highlight the critical contribution of rural transport to Australia’s economy, generating $5 billion for regional and rural communities. Smith emphasised her enthusiasm for working with the new Executive team and National Council over the coming year, focused on advancing policies and programs that further recognise and enhance the importance of rural transport and the regions and their contribution to the Australian economy.
