At ALRTA, our national team is dedicated to supporting the rural transport sector with a blend of experience and passion. We work together to advocate for the industry, provide valuable services to our members, and address the challenges faced by rural transporters. Our focus is on delivering practical outcomes that benefit our members and the industry as a whole.
Ben Maguire AM
Executive Director
Ben Maguire AM is the Executive Director of the Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association (ALRTA), bringing more than three decades of leadership experience across transport, agriculture, government relations, community organisations and the not-for-profit sector.
A respected advocate for regional Australia, Ben has held senior executive and board roles including Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Trucking Association and the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. He currently serves as Director of Corporate Affairs for Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds and is a Director of the Bundanon Trust.
Ben is a graduate of the Australian Graduate School of Management, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an accredited executive coach. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to the community through veterans’ support initiatives and leadership.
Based on his family’s small grazing enterprise near Yass, New South Wales, Ben combines a practical understanding of rural industries with extensive experience in policy, advocacy and stakeholder engagement. He is passionate about ensuring Australia’s livestock and rural transport sector remains safe, productive and recognised as a critical part of the nation’s food security and economic resilience.
