Australia's livestock and rural transport industry moves livestock, grain, fodder and rural commodities across vast distances, connecting producers to processors and markets in some of the most demanding operating conditions in the world. It is essential to the national agricultural supply chain and it needs a national peak body that leads with authority.
The ALRTA Strategic Plan 2026–2029 sets out how ALRTA will meet that task.
Over the next four years, ALRTA will sharpen its focus on the issues that require national coordination and can only be advanced through national leadership: fuel security, operating standards, animal welfare, and a unified national voice to government. It will build the practical schemes, evidence and capability the industry needs. It will strengthen its membership base and deepen the relationships that make national advocacy effective. And it will pursue the long-term improvements in productivity, safety and social licence that will help secure the industry's future.
The plan is built around four strategic pillars Influence, Develop, Engage and Advance and backed by a disciplined delivery model focused on strong governance, clear accountability and consistent follow-through.
This is a plan for leadership, delivery and industry progress. It reflects where the industry needs to go, what ALRTA can uniquely do to help get it there, and the kind of organisation it must be to make it happen.
