Effluent Code of Practice
The Effluent Code of Practice improves the management of livestock effluent during transport — essential for road safety, animal welfare and environmental protection, and a practical guide to staying compliant.
Livestock Assist
Developed in partnership with NTI, Livestock Assist provides vital support and resources for managing animal welfare during transport, focusing on safety, compliance and care through practical solutions and expert guidance.
Animal Welfare Accreditation
ALRTA is reviewing, designing and relaunching a world-class Animal Welfare Accreditation program for road transport, developed with NTI to help consignors, transporters and consignees meet their welfare obligations.
Health & Safety
Safer Loading
A successful Crate P.A.L. trial proved a user-pay model for state-of-the-art loading infrastructure is feasible at high-volume facilities, with costs typically recovered within three years to fast-track safer gantries.
Telematics Project
Funded by the federal Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative, this project uses electronic stability control data to encourage safer driver behaviour and reduce the incidence of truck roll-over crashes in livestock transport.
National Biosecurity Truck Wash Guide
In development, the National Truck Wash Guide sets a national standard for the design, construction and use of truck wash bays — safe, reliable, efficient, cost-effective and user-friendly facilities Australia-wide.
