Counting time: Victoria’s Minister Mulder delivers

Victoria’s Minister Terry Mulder has kept his promise to us, delivering the change to ‘counting time’ provisions in Victoria earlier this week. The Minister’s press release is here.

The change in Victoria takes place immediately, which means that Victoria and South Australia have delivered an almost-perfectly synchronised change. Again, that’s something both Minister Mulder and Minister Conlon promised to seek, and it’s a credit to their officials that they’ve been able to achieve that.

All four mainland ‘work diary’ States now have the same law, with time being counted:

  • from the end of a relevant major rest break if one or more major rest breaks are relevant to the time period; or
  • in any other case, from the end of a relevant period of rest time.

National President John Beer is sending a letter of thanks to Minister Mulder.
