ALRTA News Brief – 1 April 2021

Unfortunately the evolving COVID-19 situation in Queensland has meant that LRTAQ cannot proceed with their conference next week on 9-11 April in ROMA QLD

Many of their sponsors, conference speakers and attendees are impacted by the current travel restrictions. This year LRTAQ are marking their 40th anniversary, and it is very important to them that they celebrate this milestone with you.
LRTAQ have rescheduled and new dates are Friday 16 and Saturday 17 July 2021, in Roma.
Being so close to the event, the decision to postpone was difficult to make, but they are hopeful that in a few months they will be in a better position to safely welcome everyone to Queensland.
A friendly reminder that you will need to adjust your accommodation arrangements with Roma Explorer’s Inn, contactable on 07 4620 1400.
Promotional items
Unless you advise otherwise, promotional items that have been delivered to Roma will be safely and securely stored in LRTAQ storage facility for use in July.
If you have any questions, Laney of the LRTAQ Secretariat would be pleased to assist. Don’t hesitate to contact her directly on 0447 349 214.
LRTAQ thanks everyone for supporting the Association and industry, and wishes you all a happy and safe Easter.

On Friday 26th March, a celebration like no other was held at the Bayswater, Melbourne manufacturing facility. Kenworth Australia celebrated fifty years of manufacturing with more than 1,200 present, including four Australian Federal Ministers who were treated to presentations and speeches commemorating this significant milestone for PACCAR. But that wasn’t the only milestone that was celebrated. The 70,000th Australian built Kenworth also drove off the production line in March, making this day even more momentous.

The first Australian built Kenworth, the K125 referred to as the ‘Grey Ghost’.

Update from the HNVR – Some states and territories have travel restrictions in place over the Easter holiday period for agricultural, oversize/overmass and special purpose heavy vehicles.

Click here for information outlining the most common Easter restrictions, however this list is not exhaustive and NHVR recommend operators check their permits and relevant notices to confirm what restrictions are applicable and check with the relevant state and territory road transport authorities.

Please be aware that there may also be additional permit and border forms required if travelling to or from a COVID “hotspot”.

If you’re unwell and have been tested for COVID-19, it’s important to stay home while you’re waiting for your results. This will reduce the risk of passing the virus to others.
